IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: STAPLES, BAILEY POWER TIOGA TO 66-46 WIN OVER GROTON (2020-01-25)

GROTON - Keon Staples and Bryce Bailey formed their own version of "Mr. INside-Mr. Outside" here Friday evening, leading Tioga to a 66-46 win over Groton in IAC Small School Division junior varsity boys basketball action.

Staples did his damage in the paint with 30 points, while Bailey knocked down a trio of 3-pointers, and pumped in 21 points.

Bailey canned a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 points in the first quarter, and Staples added six points to help Tioga to a 20-15 lead after the first eight minutes.

Staples scored nine points in the second quarter, and Bailey added five, including his third 3-pointer, as the junior Tigers stretched their lead to six points, at 28-22, at the half.

Staples scored eight points in the third quarter to fuel a 14-9 spurt that extended the lead to 42-31 entering the final eight minutes.

Staples scored seven points in the final stanza, while Ethan Landmesser added five points, and Bailey chipped in with four in a game-clinching 18-9 run.

Matt Watson added six points in the win for the Tigers, while Landmesser had five, and Josh Reis chipped in with four.

Colin Manning led Groton with 17 points.

Tioga hosts Candor Tuesday evening.
