SPENCER — S-VE overcame an early deficit to post a 48-38 win over Tioga here Tuesday evening in IAC South Small School Division junior varsity boys basketball action.

Keon Staples scored 10 points in the first quarter to help Tioga to a 12-6 lead after the first eight minutes.

Aidan Swayze knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points in the second quarter, and Logan Jewell and Jayden Grube added four points apiece in a 13-5 S-VE run that put the Panthers ahead 17-15 at the half.

Staples scored eight points in the third quarter, but S-VE added one point to its lead, taking a 29-26 lead into the final eight minutes.

Josh Reis scored seven points in the fourth quarter for the Tigers, and Ethan Landmesser added four, but Jewell scored 11 points, including a 6-for-6 performance from the free-throw line, as S-VE pulled away.

Staples scored a game-high 22 points to lead Tioga, and Reis and Landmesser added seven points apiece.

The Tigers made just 9 of 25 free-throw attempts in the loss.

Jewell led S-VE with 21 points, and Grube added 10.

Tioga, now 8-10, wraps up the regular season tonight at Marathon.
