THE VALLEY — The NTL Showdown takes center stage Thursday night, with both Athens teams in action in the semifinals — the boys at home, and the girls on the road at NEB.

The Waverly girls are also in action on the hardwoods, on the road at Watkins Glen.


NTL Showdown — Semifinals
Canton (12-10) at Athens (15-6), 7 p.m.:
The NTL Large School champion Wildcats are coming off a 67-58 non-league win over Thomas A. Edison Monday night, while the Small School runner-up Warriors dropped a 64-50 decision to arch-rival Troy Saturday.

Earlier this season, Athens topped Canton, 61-51, at Athens.

The winner faces the winner of other semi-final match-up between Small School champ North Penn-Liberty (20-2) and Large School runner-up Troy (14-8).

NTL Showdown — Semifinals
Athens (18-4) at NEB (19-3), 7 p.m.:
The Large School runner-up Lady Wildcats are going of a 45-29 win over Troy Monday, while the Small School champion Lady Panthers rolled over Sayre, 54-22.
Earlier this season, Athens handed NEB its only league loss of the season on its home floor in a 42-34 decision.

The winner will face the winner of the other semi-final match-up between Large School champion Towanda (16-6) and Small School runner-up North Penn-Mansfield (14-8).


Waverly (14-3) at Watkins Glen (9-8), 5:30 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wolverines are coming off a 58-41 win over Class AA Binghamton Tuesday night, while the Lady Senecas topped Notre Dame, 50-42.

Earlier this season, Waverly rolled to a 49-24 win over Watkins Glen on its home floor.
