SECTION IV BOYS BOWLING: PRITCHARD, MAUERSBERG LEAD WAVERLY TO THIRD-PLACE FINISH AT CLASS C CHAMPIONSHIPS (2020-02-16)
Valley Sports ReportVESTAL "” Freshman Ashton Pritchard and junior Matt Mauersberg led Waverly to a third-place finish here Saturday at the Section IV, Class C boys bowling championships at Midway Lanes.
Susquehanna Valley claimed the Class C team gold with a three-game set of 2,902, whileUnion Springs / Port Byron was second with a 2,856 series, and Waverly had 2,799 pins, edging out fourth-place finisher Sidney, which had a 2,797 series, and fifth-place Newark Valley, which rolled a 2,781.
Susquehanna Valley's James Pittsley won the individual Class C gold with a 687 series, while Lansing's Ethan Calupca won the silver with a 661, and Greene-Oxford's Jakob Funnell won the bronze medal with a 647.
Pritchard finished 10th in the individual standings for the Wolverines with a 598 series, and Mauersberg was 11th with a 592.
Freshman Zach Vanderpool finished 25th with a 568 series, while senior Derrick Canfield added a 530, and sophomore Cody Blackwell chipped in with a 511.
Waverly returns to action Friday at the Section IV State Qualifier at the Valley Bowling Center.
