THE WEEK AHEAD: NEW YORK STATE WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS HEADLINES BUSY WEEK OF POSTSEASON ACTION (2020-02-23)
Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY "” The New York State wrestling championships this week headline a busy week of postseason action that also includes playoff basketball on both sides of the border, District 4 boys and girls swimming, and the last stop before States for Pa. grapplers - the Northeast Regional Championships.
There are nine events on the docket this week, including four on Wednesday, and three apiece on Friday and Saturday. (The District 4 swimming, Northeast Regional wrestling, and New York State wrestling events are two-day tournaments.)

MONDAY (0)TUESDAY (1)"¢ The Athens girls are in action against Shamokin in the District 4, Class AAAA playoffs at Williamsport High School.
WEDNESDAY (4)"¢ The Sayre boys play NTL rival Canton in the consolation game of the District 4, Class AA basketball playoffs at the Troy Commons Building.
"¢ The Athens boys play Montoursville in the semifinals of the District 4, Class AAAA basketball playoffs at the Troy Commons Building.
"¢ The Tioga girls open the Section IV, Class C basketball playoffs at Union Springs.
"¢ Athens and Sayre swimmers are in action at Day 1 of the District 4 Swimming Championships at Williamsport High School.
THURSDAY (1)"¢ Athens and Sayre swimmers are in action at Day 2 of the District 4 Swimming Championships at Williamsport High School.
FRIDAY (3)"¢ Six Tioga grapplers and one from Waverly are in action at Day 1 of the New York State Division 2 Championships at the Times-Union Center in Albany.
"¢ Three Athens wrestlers begin the last step in their quest for a berth to States at the Northeast Regional Championships at Williamsport High School.
"¢ The Waverly boys open the Section IV, Class B basketball playoffs at Oneonta.
SATURDAY (3)"¢ It's Day 2 of the New York State Division 2 Championships at the Times-Union Center in Albany as wrestlers vie for State hardware.
"¢ It's Day 2 of the Northeast Regional Championships at Williamsport High School as grapplers try to lock up a top-four finish and a trip to the PIAA, Class AA Championships at the Giant Center in Hershey.
"¢ The Waverly girls open the Section IV, Class B playoffs at unbeaten Newark Valley.
