NORTHEAST REGIONAL WRESTLING: BRADLEY LEADS TRIO OF ATHENS WRESTLERS AT CLASS AA CHAMPIONSHIPS (2020-02-27)

W'PORT "” Athens will have three wrestlers, led by sophomore Gavin Bradley, in action this weekend at the PIAA, Cass AA Northeast Regional here at Williamsport High School.

Bradley is the third seed at 113 pounds, while senior Alex West is the fifth seed at 182 pounds, and senior Keegan Braund is the eighth seed at 285 pounds.

The quarterfinals begin at 6 p.m. Friday night, while the semifinals and consolation bracket quarterfinals begin Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

At 113 pounds: Bradley (33-2), the District 4 runner-up and third seed, will square off with District 2's third-place finisher, sixth-seeded Wyoming Area freshman Garrett Pocceschi (18-10), in the quarterfinals

The winner will take on the winner of the match between District 2 champ and second-seed Lackawanna Trail freshman Deegan Ross (36-8), and seventh-seed Kaden Majcher (26-10) of Warrior Run.

District 4 champ Scott Johnson (39-1), a freshman from Muncy, is the top seed, and Hanover Area junior Cael Davis (36-12), the District 2 runner-up, is the fourth seed.

At 182 pounds: District 4 third-place finisher West (30-9) is the fifth seed, and will square off with fourth-seeded Lackawanna Trail freshman Jonah Houser (28-13), the District 2 runner-up, in the quarterfinals.

The winner will face the winner of the match between unbeaten District 4 champ and top-seed Dylan Bennett (33-0) of Montoursville, and eighth-seeded senior Mike Cook (25-12) of Danville.

District 2 champ Western Wayne senior Alex Hollister (21-9) is the second seed, and District 4 runner-up Line Mountain senior Jacob Feese (30-9) is the third seed.

At 285 pounds:
Braund (28-12) is the eighth seed, and will square off with top-seeded District 4 champ Lear Winton (34-7), a senior from Southern Columbia.

The winner will face the winner of the match between fifth-seed Dawson Brown (30-3) of Northeast Bradford and fourth-seed Tunkhannock senior Brett Sickler (5-9), the District 2 runner-up.

The top four in each weight class advance to the PIAA Class AA Championships.
