WAVERLY "” Jerry Carnrike turned in a strong pitching performance and drove in the go-ahead run in the Hemp Geek / Bradford Hospitality Indians' 8-4 win over the New Image / Tom's Hardware Pirates here Monday evening in Waverly Little League Majors Division baseball action.

With the scored tied at 1-1, Carnrike stroked an RBI single to give the Indians a 2-1 lead in the top of the third inning. They added three more runs on a pair of Pirate errors to take a 5-1 lead.

The Pirates trimmed the deficit to 5-3 in the top of the fourth on an RBI triple by Connor Davidson, and an RBI groundout off the bat of Bryce Laforest, but the Indians put the game away with three runs in the home half of the fourth in a rally that featured back-to-back RBI doubles by Justin Koenig and Griffin Walter.

Carnrike allowed three runs on six hits, while striking out five and walking four in 4 1/3 innings of work to earn the win.

Cullen Sharpsteen closed out the game for the Indians, allowing an unearned run on two hits, with one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

Walter doubled, scored one run, and had three RBI and Koenig doubled, scored two runs, and drove in one run to lead the Indians at the plate, while Carnrike singled, scored two runs, and knocked in one run, and Ben Shaw singled and scored one run.

Avery Bowman and Jack Pipher each added a single in the win,  and Hogan Shaw scored twice.

Connor Davidson tripled and singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, while Aiden Doherty doubled and singled, and Brendan Cooke singled twice and scored two runs to lead the Pirates' eight-hit attack.

Bryce Laforest singled, scored one run, and drove in one run, and Andrew Larrabee added a single for the Pirates.

Doherty was tagged with the loss, allowing seven runs - two earned - on three hits, with four strikeouts and four walks in  3 2/3 innings.

The Indians improve to 8-1, while the Pirates fall to 3-6.

Up next: Cubs vs. Angels, 6 p.m. Tuesday.
