NTL BOYS SOCCER: ATHENS BOUNCES BACK, BLANKS WILLIAMSON, 3-0 (2020-09-24)

TIOGA JUNCTION "” Senior Tyler Chambers gave Athens a 1-0 lead in the first half, and the Wildcats put the game away with a pair of late goals in a 3-0 win over Williamson here in NTL boys soccer action.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 3-1, bouncing back from their first league loss in nearly five years - a 2-1 setback at Wellsboro Tuesday.

Chambers scored off a feed from senior Colby Blakeman with 15:34 remaining in the first half to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

Athens, which has not allowed a goal in its three wins, maintained the one-goal for more than 50 minutes, until junior Nate Quinn found the back of the net to make it 2-0 with 5:28 remaining in the contest.

Chambers provided the final margin with his second goal in the game's closing seconds.

Athens had a 10-4 advantage in shots-on-goal, while Williamson had a 4-2 edge in corner kicks.

 Senior Asher Ellis recorded four saves in net for the Wildcats.

Athens, now 3-1, returns to action Saturday afternoon at Sayre.
