NTL VOLLEYBALL: ATHENS WINS THIRD STRAIGHT WITH SWEEP OF WILLIAMSON (24 PHOTOS) (2020-09-24)

Valley Sports Report
ATHENS "” Athens coach Heather Hanson said a "total team effort" led Athens to a sweep of Williamson here Thursday evening in NTL volleyball action.

The Lady Wildcats, now 3-1, won by scores of 25-13, 25-17, and 25-18.

"We keep working on that team unity," said Hanson.

"Taylor Field had another amazing game getting that ball to the setter, and (setter) Kayleigh Miller moved that ball around," said Hanson.

"It was fun to watch the girls try a variety of hits tonight," she noted. "Leah Liechty and Kylie Jayne dominated in the middle and I saw a major hit from Ally Martin that will get her hitting at another level.

"Taylor Walker had great digs and some clutch kills that got us our momentum when we needed," added Hanson. "Jenny Ryan looked strong after being out, and Grace Witherow and Gia Perri stepped up and had great passes tonight, too."

Miller had 23 setter assists, two digs, and two service aces to lead the Lady Wildcats, while Liecthy registered 11 kills, and Field had a team-high 15 digs and four aces.

Walker recorded five kills, three aces, and three digs in the win, while Ryan contributed six assists, three kills, and three digs, Jayne put down six kills, Martin added five kills and two aces, and Perry chipped in with two digs.

Athens returns to action Monday when it hosts NEB.
