CUOMO SAYS HIGH-RISK SPORTS MAY RESUME FEB. 1 (2021-01-22)

Valley Sports Report
ALBANY - New York Governor Andrew Cuomo's office announced Friday that high-risk high school sports, which includes basketball and wrestling, may begin play on Feb. 1, providing the local health departments sign off on the decision.

Travel for practice or play is prohibited outside of the region or contiguous counties / regions. Interstate travel for practice or play is strongly discouraged and, if undertaken, must strictly adhere to the requirements of the State's travel advisory.

High-risk winter sports have been on hold awaiting further guidance since mid-November. Gov. Cuomo originally said he would address the subject by Dec. 31, but NYSPHSAA's announced on Dec. 20 it would put winter sports on hold indefinitely.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Full guidance can be found on Page 4 and 5 of the this link.
