WAVERLY "” Junior Kaden Wheeler logged Waverly's only first-place finish, and also had three second-place finishes in a tri-meet against Section IV boys swimming powers Corning and Maine-Endwell here Saturday afternoon.

The Wolverines finished a distant third in the tri-meet with 342 points. Corning amassed 586 points, edging out Maine-Endwell, which tallied 567.

Wheeler won the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 54.81 seconds, and freshman Ryan Clark was fifth in a time of 1:01.53. Wheeler also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 59.64 seconds

Wheeler teamed with Clark, and sophomores Oscar Williams and Jerell Sackett to place second in the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:44.54. The same foursome finished second in the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:25.91.

Seniors Dillon Madigan and Max Pan, sophomore Sheldon Huddleston, and freshman Liam Wright teamed to finish second in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:52.23.

Williams had the only other top-two individual finish on the day, placing second in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:17.27, while Wright was third in 5:34.55, and Madigan was fifth in 5:40.64.

Sackett finished third in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.53 seconds. He was fourth in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 53.63 seconds.

Williams finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle in a time of 1:54.2, and Madigan was sixth in 2:03.85.

Clark finished fourth in the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:15.97.

Waverly returns to action Tuesday against Dryden in a "virtual" meet.
