Alex Tomasso, a sophomore on the Merrimack women's golf team, shot a career-best round of 71 to lead the Lady Warriors to a win over Franklin Pierce in a dual match April 7.
Tomasso's birdied the first two holes on the 5,865-yard, par-72 Candia Woods Golf Links course on her way to a 3-under par 33 on the front nine.
She birdied the 10th hole to go four-under, but gave three strokes back to par on the next four holes before finishing the round with four straight pars.
She tied her teammate Jacquelyn Stiles, a sophomore from Groton, Mass., for low-medal honors on the day.
Last weekend, Tomasso shot a two-day total of 178 (84-94) at the Sacred Heart Spring Invite at the Great River Golf Club in Milford, Conn. Merrimack finished 12th in the 12-team field.
Merrimack College was in action this weekend at the three-day Northeast Conference Championships at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville, Pa.
