DRYDEN — Waverly scored in every inning, and pulled away for a 25-8 win over Dryden here Tuesday afternoon in IAC junior varsity softball action.

Maddison Cron’s RBI triple in the top of the first gave the junior Lady Wolverines a quick 1-0 lead, and Brinn Cooney added to it with a two-run triple.

Cooney scored on an RBI groundout off the bat of Faith Blauvelt to cap the first-inning scoring.

Leading 4-1, Waverly added a pair of runs in the second inning on an RBI triple by Loralye Anthony and a sacrifice fly by Cron to make it 6-1

Waverly kept it rolling in the third inning with six more runs in a rally that featured a two-run single by Anthony, and RBI single by Cron, and an RBI groundout off the bat of Ciara Sindoni.

Waverly pushed its lead to 18-1 with six runs in the fourth inning.

Lea VanAllen was 5-for-5 with a triple, six runs scored, and two RBI to lead Waverly’s 23-hit barrage, while Anthony had four hits, including a triple, three runs scored, and five RBI, and Cron had four hits, including a triple, two runs scored, and four RBI.

Cooney tripled and doubled, scored three runs and drove in three runs in the win, while Sindoni singled twice, scored twice, and knocked in one run, BLauvelt singled twice and had two RBI, and Natalie Lauper singled twice and scored three runs.

Kailey Purvis singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run for the Wolverines, while Brilynn Belles singled and scored one run, and Liberty Hollywood scored a pair of runs.

Cooney earned the win for Waverly, allowing six runs on seven hits, while striking out three and walking none in five innings of work.

VanAllen pitched a hitless inning of relief, allowing two runs on three walks. She fanned three.

Waverly improves to 3-6 on the season.
