BOYS BASKETBALL: WAVERLY, CANDOR EACH WIN TWO GAMES IN WAVERLY SUMMER LEAGUE (2021-06-17)
Valley Sports ReportWAVERLY - Waverly and Candor picked up a pair of wins Wednesday night in Varsity Division action at the Waverly Summer Basketball League here at the high school.
Waverly knocked off Valley rival, 44-41, and topped Towanda, 40-26, while Candor beat Tioga, 38-28, and edged S-VE, 57-52. Waverly improves to 3-0, while Candor improves to 3-1.
Athens rolled over Tioga, 48-16, in its first game, and is 3-1 on the season.
In other action, Mansfield edged Troy, 56-53, in overtime, but dropped a 38-33 decision to the Elmira JV team. Elmira also slipped past Watkins Glen, 40-36, and Troy beat Watkins Glen, 50-40.
S-VE rolled past Notre Dame, 44-20, and Towanda beat Notre Dame, 54-43, in a game that does not count in the league standings.
