IAC CROSS COUNTRY: TIOGA BOYS 2-1 IN FOUR-TEAM MEET; LADY TIGERS GO 1-2 (24 PHOTOS) (2021-09-21)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER "” Junior Thomas Hurd finished third to lead the Tioga boys to a pair of wins here Tuesday afternoon in a four-team IAC cross country meet, while the Lady Tigers picked up one win.
BOYSJonny Sherwood (18:13) and Mark Vosburg (19:50) finishes 1-2 to lead Newark Valley to three wins, and Hurd clocked in at 20:18.
Newark Valley logged 28 placement points, while Tioga had 49, and Thomas A. Edison and Notre Dame were incomplete.
Freshman Andrew Early finished fifth for the Tigers in a time of 20:57, while freshman Isaiah Fore was eighth in 22:18.
Zander Whitmore (22:46), Will Slater (25:03), and Colt Herrala (27:09) finished 16th through 18th, respectively, Casey Herrala was 20th in 27:29, Jack Cary was 22nd in 32:00, Dawson Pillhower was 23rd in 34:04, and Reed Cook was 25th in 40:29.
GIRLSLexy Ward led the Lady Tigers across the finish line, placing 10th in 28:40 "” well off the pace set by Notre Dame's Piper Young, who won the race in 23:40.
Newark Valley was 3-0 on the day with 25 placement points, while Thomas A. Edison had 43, Tioga had 69, and Notre Dame was incomplete.
Kate Burrowes finished 12th in 30:08 for the Lady Tigers, while Emily Burrowes was 14th in 30:14, and Brooke Delmage was 15th in 30:18.
Patience Card (34:48), Nicole DeBoer (36:12), and Sara Burrowes (36:20) finished 18th through 20th, respectively, for Tioga.
