Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY "” Week 5 of the Pa. football season is upon us, with Athens playing its fourth home game of the season, while Sayre is on the road for a pivotal NTL Small School Division match-up against Muncy.

In the other marquee event of the day, the Waverly goals are on the road at Newark Valley in a key IAC South Large School division soccer match.

FOOTBALL
Wyalusing (1-3 overall, 0-2 NTL Large) at Athens (2-2, 1-1), 7 p.m. @ Alumni Stadium:
The Wildcats are coming off a 7-0 non-divisional home loss to South Williamsport, while the Rams were hammered, 55-20, by unbeaten Canton.

Athens has been shutout in both of its losses (Troy and South), while scoring 79 points in its wins (Hanover and Towanda). The Wildcats have outscored their opponents, 79-25, this season.

Since opening the season with a 64-0 win over Montrose, Wyalusing has been outscored 125-46 in three losses.

Last year, Athens pulled out a 21-14 win over Wyalusing.

Sayre (3-1, 2-1 NTL Small) at Muncy (3-1, 2-0), 7 p.m.: The Redskins are coming off a convincing, 36-16, win at Montgomery, while the Indians topped a pesky Cowanesque Valley, 42-21.

The Redskins should be back at full strength tonight after a bout with Covid-19. They have outscored their opponents by an average of 41 to 16.3.

After a season-opening loss to Northern Lehigh, the Indians have outscored their foes (CMVT, Wyalusing, and CV), 142-29, in three wins.

In their last meeting, Sayre topped Muncy, 21-17, to clinch the NTL Small School title.

GIRLS SOCCER
Waverly (3-1-1) at Newark Valley (3-1), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines are coming off an 8-0 home win over SVEC Tuesday night, while the Lady Cardinals dropped a 3-2 decision to Newark Valley.

Waverly played Notre Dame to a 0-0 double-OT draw last week.

Tioga (1-4-1) at O-M (4-3), 7 p.m.: The Lady Tigers are coming off a 6-0 loss to Watkins Glen Tuesday, while the Lady Indians topped Newfield, 5-2.

VOLLEYBALL
Waverly (3-1) at Edison (3-2) ... PPD.:
This match has been postponed due to Covid protocol with the Waverly team.

S-VE (2-3) at Tioga (4-0), 5 p.m. JV start:
The Lady Tigers are coming off a sweep of O-M Monday, while the Lady Panthers dropped a 3-1 decision to Newark Valley Wednesday.
