SECTION IV FIELD HOCKEY: MARATHON KNOCKS OFF TIOGA, 8-2 (9 PHOTOS) (2021-10-05)

TIOGA CENTER — Tioga scored first, but Marathon scored the next seven goals en route to an 8-2 win here Tuesday afternoon in Section IV field hockey action.

Junior Emily Sindoni gave the Lady Tigers a 1-0 lead with 13:15 remaining in the first quarter, but the Lady Olympians scored two minutes later, then added to more goals to take a 3-1 lead heading into the second quarter.

Marathon stretched its lead to 6-1 at the half, and scored another goal in the third quarter.

Sophomore Chloe Gillette scored early in the fourth quarter to trim the deficit to 7-2, but that was all the offense the Lady Tigers could muster.

Marathon had a 15-2 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 10-2 edge in penalty corners.
