Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY "” Volleyball takes center stage in the Valley this evening with Tioga and Athens both hosting league rivals, but Sayre senior Kannon VanDuzer is in the spotlight this morning at the state golf tournament.
GOLF
PIAA Class AA Championships, 8:30 a.m. @ The Heritage Hills Country Club, York: VanDuzer and NP-Mansfield junior Andrew Green will be representing the NTL today at the PIAA Championships.
Green finished fourth at the District 4 Championships, while VanDuzer was fifth.
VOLLEYBALL
Waverly (5-5) at Tioga (10-1), 5 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wolverines are coming off a sweep of Newfield Friday, while the Lady Tigers swept O-M Friday.
Tioga is tied with Candor atop the Small School Division, while Waverly is in third place in the Large School standings, behind Edison and Newark Valley.
The two teams play again Saturday morning at Waverly.
Troy (3-8) at Athens (4-6), 6 p.m. JV start: The Lady Wildcats were swept by North Penn-Liberty Thursday, while the Lady Trojans edged Towanda in a five-set thriller.
GIRLS SOCCER
Athens (9-7) at Hughesville (8-6-1), 7 p.m.: The Lady Wildcats are coming off a 2-0 home loss to Bloomsburg Saturday, while the Lady Spartans blanked Loyalsock, 2-0.
BOYS SOCCER
Athens (10-6) at Millville (11-4), 7 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 6-0 win over Galeton Thursday, while the Quakers won its sixth straight, blanking Sullivan County, 2-0, to avenge a 1-0 loss earlier this season.
