THE VALLEY - The postseason shifts into high gear Saturday with the Waverly girls soccer and Athens volleyball teams play win-or-go-home playoff games, and the Waverly girls swim team in action at the IAC Championships.

GIRLS SOCCER
Section IV Playoffs
Class B Quarterfinals
5-Norwich (7-5-2) at 4-Waverly (9-2-3), 6 p.m.:
The Lady Wolverines, ranked 25th in the state in Class B, are coming off a 1-0 double-overtime loss to Notre Dame in and IAC South Large School Divisional playoff game, while the Lady Tornadoes blanked Susquehanna Valley, 3-0.

Waverly's other loss was a 2-1 decision against Athens. Norwich lost twice to Oneonta (ranked 20th in Class B), and once to Chenango Valley (ranked 2nd in Class B), Owego (ranked 25th in Class B), and Cincinnatus (ranked 9th in Class D), while registering a tie with Franklin (ranked 7th in Class D).

District 2-4 Sub-Regional
Opening Round
8-Athens (6-6) at 1-Berwick (14-2), noon:
The Lady Wildcats are coming off a sweep of Towanda Wednesday, while the Lady Bulldogs swept Western Wayne Thursday for its seventh consecutive win.

Berwick is the reigning District 2-4 champ. They swept Athens last year in the finals.

Athens advanced to the finals as the seventh-seed with wins over second-seeded Greater Nanticoke and sixth-seceded Tunkhannock.

Berwick returned nearly en tact from last year, led by 5-10 junior outside hitter Sara Steeber, and 6-1 junior middle hitter Cece Isenberg.

Tioga at Waverly, 10 a.m. (varsity only): The Lady Tigers are coming off a sweep at S-VE Wednesday, while the Lady Wolverines were swept by Candor.

Tioga swept Waverly Monday at home.

Sayre at NEB, 10 a.m. JV start: The Lady Redskins were swept by Wyalusing Thursday, while the Lady Panthers won via sweep at Cowanesque Valley Tuesday.

NEB swept Sayre earlier this season.

GIRLS SWIMMING
IAC Championships at Watkins Glen - Diving, 1 p.m., Swimming 4 p.m.:
Waverly seniors Lourden Benjamin, Delaney Vascoe, and Willow Sharpsteen have one last shot at IAC gold, along with junior Sophia DeSisti and 8th-grader Mira Kittle, and junior diver Josie VanDyke.
