SECTION IV BOWLING: TIOGA BOYS PLACE SECOND IN CLASS D CHAMPIONSHPS; LADY TIGER FINISH SIXTH (2022-02-20)

VESTAL — Senior Dylan Slater and junior Frank Chapman finished in the top-10 to lead the Tioga boys to a second-place finish at the Section IV, Class D boys bowling championships here Friday afternoon at Midway Lanes, while the Lady Tigers placed sixth Saturday.

BOYS
The Tigers rolled a three-game aggregate series of 2,875, well off the pace of Class D champion Hancock, which rolled the high team series across all classes with a 3,191.

Dylan Slater rolled a 667 series on games of 242, 205, and 220 to finish fifth in Class D, while Chapman shot a 592 series, including a 226 in the first game, to finish ninth.

Junior Brad Webb shot a 572 series, including a 226 in the second game, and  junior Gage Cain had a 566, including a 223 in the second game, to finish 15th and 16th, respectively.

Senior Rocco Fariello added a 478 series for the Tigers.

The Tioga boys will bowl in this weekend’s State Qualifier at the Valley Bowling Center by virtue of their IAC divisional title.

GIRLS
Led by sophomore Chloe Gillette and junior Bobbi Jo Tarbox, the Lady Tigers finished sixth in the Class D Championships.

Unadilla Valley won the Class D team title with a three-game aggregate score of 2,503, edging out runner-up SVEC by just 25 pins. Groton was third with 2,406 pins, thief O-M was fourth at 2,026, and Notre Dame was fifth at 2,016. Tioga tallied 1,898.

Gillette rolled a 450 series to finish 15th in the Class D individual standings, and Tarbox was 17th with a 437 series. Tarbox’s 192 was good fir sixth in the High Game list.

Junior Caroline Chapman rolled a 393 series for the Lady Tigers, while junior Jamie Card added a 328. Senior Rachel Feeko rolled 221 in two games. Ariana Hawley shot a 69 in one game.
