VALLEY SPORTS REPORT: WAVERLY'S VANDERPOOL HEADLINES SUPER 7 AS "BOWLER OF YEAR" (2022-03-22)

Valley Sports Report
THE VALLEY — Waverly junior Zach Vanderpool was the top bowler in the IAC and Section IV this season, and made his first trip to States. He headlines the “Super 7” as the 2021-22 Valley Sports ReportBowler of the Year.

(NOTE: With just two schools — Waverly and Tioga — fielding bowling teams, this is a co-ed all-star team.)

Waverly sophomore Trent Sindoni is the “Newcomer of the Year.”

Vanderpool posted an IAC and Section IV high 226 average this season. His high series in the regular series was 794, and he rolled a high game of 289.

He finished second at the Section IV State Qualifier with a nine-game set of 2,071 (230.1 average), including a 798 series series at the Class C Championships, which was good for a first-place finish.

Vanderpool placed 30th in a field of 66 at States, rolling a six-game set of 1,223 for a 203.83 average.

Sindoni shined in his first season in Waverly’s top six. He averaged 181 for the season, which was good for seventh in the IAC. Sindoni rolled a high series of 611 during the regular season.

The Super 7 consists of six underclassmen — all from Waverly, and one senior from Tioga.

Dylan Slater, senior, Tioga: Slater led Tioga to its seventh straight Small School title, posting a 195 average, which was second-best in the IAC. He rolled a 699 high series, and a 269 hight game.

He finished fifth at the Class D Championships with a 667 series, and finished 17th at the State Qualifier with a nine-game set of 1,820 (202.2 average).

Trenton Sindoni, sophomore, Waverly: See above.

Ashton Pritchard, junior, Waverly: Pritchard posted a 179 average, which was eighth in the IAC for the season. He rolled a 606 high series during the regular season, then topped that with a 665 series at the IAC Championships.

Rachel Houseknecht, sophomore, Waverly: Rachel Houseknecht posted a 176 average during the regular season, which was the second-best in the IAC — edging out her sister Victoria by eight total pins over 39 games.

She had a 622 high series, and finished 15th at the Section IV State Qualifier.

Victoria Houseknecht, junior, Waverly: Rachel Houseknecht posted a 176 average, which was good for third in the IAC. She had a 596 high series for the season, and had the second-highest game of the IAC season at 258.

Shantilly Decker, junior, Waverly: Decker’s167 average was good for seventh in the IAC this season. She rolled a 582 high series, and a 248 high game.
