Wendi Hammond, a junior on the Division I University of Albany softball team, earned a win and a save in a doubleheader sweep of Siena College Thursday afternoon.
In the first game of the twinbill, Hammond picked up the victory with three innings of relief in Albany’s 2-1 win.
She allowed one run on two hits, while striking out two and walking none.
In the nightcap, Hammond retired the only two batters she faced — one by strikeout — to earn the save in a 12-8 win over Siena.
On the season, Hammond is 11-6 with one save, and a 2.70 ERA. She has allowed 93 hits in 101 innings, while striking out 80 and walking 28.
Albany, now 20-12, hosts UMass-Lowell in a doubleheader Saturday.
