NEW YORK STATE BASKETBALL: TIOGA'S SICKLER RECEIVES CLASS C ALL-STATE HONORABLE MENTION RECOGNITION (2022-04-23)
Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER — Tioga sophomore Evan Sickler received Class C all-state honorable mention recognition from the New York State Sportswriters Association Thursday.
A smooth operator with a high basketball IQ. Sickler averaged 15 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. He also knocked down 19 3-pointers.
“Evan is one of the hardest workers that I’ve coached throughout my career,” said Tioga coach Brian Card. “He is currently playing AAU for the Red Wave, playing some travel basketball tournaments with me, all while playing varsity golf for the school.
“Evan is always in the gym playing basketball and it shows on the court,” he noted. “Even though Evan played guard, he led the team in rebounding. He also led the team in scoring, assists and steals.
“Accomplishing all of that as a sophomore,” added Card. “I can’t say enough about how good of a student Evan is either. I always have teachers coming up to me saying what a great kid Evan is. This is a well-deserved honor for a great student-athlete.”
