YOUTH BASEBALL: BLUE SKIES, LARGE CROWD HELPS ATHENS LITTLE LEAGUE RING IN OPENING DAY (2022-04-30)

ATHENS — Blue skies and a large crowd helped the Athens Little League celebrate Opening Day of the 2022 season.

The ceremonies were held after the completion of the Athens varsity baseball games — both wins — against Waverly and Tioga in the annual “Battle at the Border.”

Dr. Edward Jones threw the ceremonial first softball pitch in recognition of his efforts around the field, especially the flowers between the Little League field and the high school baseball field.

Jeremy Davidson and Todd Cockroft each threw a baseball first pitch in recognition of their efforts to do whatever is needed, often volunteering to do tasks without being asked.
