STONY BROOK, N.Y. — Waverly grad Wendi Hammond, a junior on University of Albany softball team picked up a win and had her second multi-hit game in a regular season-ending three-game series against Stony Brook last weekend.

Hammond pitched the second game of a twinbill last Saturday. She earned the win, allowing six runs — four earned — on five hits, while striking out four and walking one in six innings in a 10-6 win.

Hammond also homered and tripled, scored two runs, and had three RBI in the win.

On Sunday, Hammond was tagged with the loss, allowing seven runs — six earned — on eight hits, while striking out two and walking one in 5 1/3 innings in an 8-7 setback.

Hammond was 1-for-3 with a single and a run scored in the loss.

On the season, Hammond is 13-7 with one save and a 3.09 ERA. She has 95 strikeouts and 36 walks in 124 2/3 innings.

At the plate, Hammond is hitting .233 (10 hits in 43 ABs) with one double, one triple, two home runs, four RBI, six runs scored, and two stolen bases.

Albany, now 23-15, returns to action Wednesday in the opening round of the America East Tournament.
