THE VALLEY — Day 1 of the IAC Track & Field Championships, and a win-or-go-home game for the Athens softball team heading Wednesday’s afternoon action.

TRACK & FIELD
IAC Championships, 4:45 pm. @ Trumansburg H.S.:
All 19 schools the North and South will converge on Trumansburg for Day 1 of the IAC Championships this afternoon.

Waverly will be led by sophomore Micah Chandler, senior Olivia Nittinger, and juniors Kennedy Westbrook, and Natalie Garrity.

TIoga will be led by seniors Julia Walsh, Mariah Nichols, Matt Watson, and sophomore Valentino Rossi.

SOFTBALL
Athens (9-10) at Montgomery (14-4), 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Wildcats are coming off wins over Waverly and TIoga Saturday at the “Battle at the Border,” while the Lady Red Raiders dropped a 5-3 decision at Central Columbia.

Athens needs a win in the regular-season finale to qualify for the upcoming District 4, Class 4A playoffs, while a Montgomery win could lock up an opening-round home game in the Class A playoffs.

Sayre (0-17) at Towanda (5-13), 4:30 p.m.: The Lady Redskins are coming off a three-inning, 21-0, loss to Troy, while the Lady Black Knights are coming off a 12-0 loss at South Williamsport Saturday, and a 6-4 loss to Troy Friday.
