THE VALLEY — The District 4 Track & Field Championships conclude this afternoon at Williamsport High School, while Athens opens play in the Class 4A baseball playoffs this morning at Central Columbia High School.

TRACK & FIELD
District 4 Championships, 9 a.m. @ Williamsport H.S.:
Day 2 features the brunt of the action, after the sprint preliminaries, and a few other events were held Thursday night.

The Athens boys, competing in Class AA, have a couple opportunities for athletes to advance to the state meet, with junior Jaden Wright in the 100-meter dash, and senior Kyle Anthony in the 1,600-meter run the best hopes.

The Lady Wildcats, competing in Class AAA, have sophomore Mya Thompson in the triple jump, senior Hannah Walker in the 300-meter hurdles, and freshman Sara Bronson and junior Emma Bronson in the distance events as their best hopes.

Sayre will have senior Mason Hughey in action in the 400-meter dash today.

BASEBALL
District 4 Playoffs
Class 4A Quarterfinals
5-Athens (12-8) vs. 4-Lewisburg (10-8), 11 a.m. @ Central Columbia:
The Wildcats are coming off a 15-3 loss to crosstown rival Sayre Sunday at PNC Field in Scranton, while the Green Dragons edged top-seeded Montoursville, 6-5, to avenge a 4-2 loss earlier in the season.
