THE WEEK AHEAD: PLENTY OF POSTSEASON DIAMOND ACTION ON TAP; N.Y. TRACK POSTSEASON BEGINS (2022-05-22)

THE VALLEY — The postseason on the diamonds rolls on this week with three Valley baseball teams, and two softball teams in action, while the New York State track & field postseason gets under way.

There are 12 events on the docket this week, including six on Tuesday, and three on Monday.

The following are some, not all, of this week’s events:

MONDAY (3)
•  Waverly takes on an IAC Large School baseball rival Dryden in the quarterfinals of the Section IV, Class B playoffs at the Gulches Lumber Sports Complex in Cortland.

•  Tioga baseball travels to Lansing for a quarter-final contest in the Section IV, Class C playoffs.

•  Waverly travels to Owego for a quarter-final matchup in the Section IV, Class B softball playoffs.

TUESDAY (6)
•  Top-seeded Sayre takes on fourth-seeded Muncy in the semifinals of the District 4, Class AA baseball playoffs at Mansfield University. The winner advances to the title game at Bowman Field Saturday morning.

•  Tioga track & field in action at the Section IV, Class D Championships at Marathon High School.

•  Tioga travels to IAC Small School rival Union Springs for a Section IV, Class C quarter-final game at Wells College.

•  Waverly and Tioga are in action at the IAC Boys Golf Championships at Soaring Eagles.

•  Waverly is in action at the IAC Tennis Championships at SUNY Cortland.

WEDNESDAY (1)
•  Waverly track & field teams in action at the Section IV, Class C Championships at Oneonta High School.

THURSDAY (2)
•  The Waverly girls are in action in the Section IV Golf Championships at Soaring Eagles.

•  The Tioga boys golf team is in action at the Section IV, Class C Championships at SUNY Delhi.
