HORSEHEADS — Tioga landed a trio of individual top-10 finishes en route to a second-place showing at the IAC Boys Golf Championship at Soaring Eagles Golf Course here Tuesday.

The Tigers posted a 366 team score trailing only pre-tournament favorite Union Springs, which finished with a 359. Trumansburg (401), Groton (409), Marathon (421), Newark Valley (442), Southern Cayuga (445) and Odessa-Montour (463) rounded out the field.

"We knew Union Springs would be the team to beat, so we hung in there pretty, pretty close" Tioga coach Dave Sickler said, "I thought they might get us a little bit more than they did. A couple of guys, like Ben Davis, had a career round today, so that helped out. And we were just talking there at the end. I think everybody can find two, three, four shots that they should've, could've, would've type stuff. So, overall, very, very proud of those guys."

Evan Sickler paced Tioga with an 88, good for fourth place in the medalist challenge. Tyler Roe took sixth with a 90 and Davis added a 91 to finish ninth. James Luther rounded out the team scoring with a 97, good for 13th in the 43-player field.

Brandon Rafferty and Levi Bellis shot non-scoring rounds of 103 and 109, respectively.

The Wolves were led by Luke Parker, who carded an 86.

Roe and Sickler were named first-team IAC South Small School all-stars while Bellis, Davis, Luther and Ethan Landmesser were selected to the second team.

Tioga returns to Soaring Eagles Thursday to compete in the Section IV Class D tournament.
