DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MINORS): HORSEHEADS RALLIES TO TOP WAVERLY, 15-5, IN POOL PLAY OPENER (2022-06-27)
Valley Sports Report WAVERLY — Horseheads scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning to overcome an early deficit on its way to a 15-5 four-inning win over Waverly here Sunday morning in the opening game of the District 6 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.
Waverly, playing as the visiting team, took advantage of five walks in the first inning to take a 5-0 lead.
Horseheads answered with a run in the second, and and seven more in the second to take an 8-5 lead. They continued to add to the lead with five runs in the third inning, and two more in the fourth to close out the game via the 10-run “mercy” rule.
Waverly’s only two hits — singles by Brycen Fiske and Cooper Skovira — came with two outs in the top of the fourth inning.
Waverly returns to action Tuesday at Corning-Painted Post.
