The Susquehanna River Rats 16U team, featuring players from Wyalusing, Troy, and Athens, took home the Mount Aloysius Baseball Tournament title this past weekend.

In the first game they defeated the Williamsport Bills 6-1, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first, and four more in the fourth.

Hunter House (2-for-3) and Mathias Welles (2-for-2) both had triples, as House also had three RBI, while Welles scored a run. Trehnon Hugo (2-for-4), Nick Vanderpool (2-for-4), and Kenny Mapes (2-for-4) also had multi-hit games. Vanderpool had an RBI with a run scored, while Mapes drove in two runs.

Camden Allen went 1-for-4 with two runs scored, and Camryn Harwick also went 1-for-4. Lucas Kraft crossed home twice.

Kraft got the win, going four innings with two strikeouts, two walks, and one hit. House went 2 2/3-innings with two strikeouts, four hits, and one earned runs. Hugo pitched the final third.

The River Rats then lost to the Central PA Diamond Elite 4-3. The two teams scored two runs in the first, with the Diamonds getting two more in the third. The Rats would get one back in the sixth, but couldn’t overcome the deficit, despite out hitting them 8-4.

Hugo (2-for-4), Allen (2-for-3), and Harwick (2-for-3) all had multi-hit games, while Hugo scored twice, and Allen drove in two runs. Vanderpool (1-for-4) and Mapes (1-for-3) each scored a run, while House had an RBI.

Hugo pitched an inning, striking out three with two hits, one walk, and two runs. Allen went the next five innings, striking out one with three walks, two hits, and two runs, one of which was earned.

On Sunday, the River Rats beat the Altoona Curve Juniors, 9-4. They found themselves down 4-3 when they rallied for six runs in the sixth to pull ahead.

Mapes went 2-for-4 with a run scored, and two RBI, while Welles was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Isaac Shaffer was 1-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI, with Kraft going 1-for-4 with two RBI, and a run scored.

Vanderpool was 1-for-3 with two runs scored, Hugo went 1-for-3 with a run scored, Allen was 1-for-3 with a run scored, and an RBI, House went 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Harwick was 1-for-2 with a run scored.

Kraft went the distance for the win, striking out three with eight hits, two walks, and four earned runs.

The Rats then got revenge on the Diamond Elite, beating them 14-5 in five innings for the title. They jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning, then rattled off six more runs in the second to go up 9-2. A five-run fourth sealed the win for them.

Kraft (2-for-4) had a home run with three runs scored, and five RBI, while Allen (2-for-2) had a triple with three runs scored, and an RBI.

Vanderpool went 2-for-4 with two RBI, and two run scored, while Mapes went 2-for-2 with a run score, and three RBI, and Shaffer was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and two RBI.

Hugo went 1-for-4 with a run scored, and an RBI, while Harwick was 1-for-3 with a run scored, and Welles was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

House went the first three innings to get the win, striking out one with eight hits, one walk, and five runs, two of which were earned. Allen went the final two innings, allowing one walk.
