NTL GOLF: COOPER LEADS ATHENS TO FOURTH PLACE IN SEASON-OPENING NON-LEAGUE MATCH (5 PHOTOS) (2022-08-13)

WYSOX — Junior Evan Cooper finished third to help Athens to a season-opening fourth-place finish here Friday afternoon in a non-league golf match at the Towanda Country Club.

Selinsgrove notched the win with a three-player aggregate score of 239, Wyalusing was second with a 251, and Tunkhannock was third with a 259. Athens was fourth at 267, and Jersey Shore was fifth at 270 in the 14-team field.

Cooper fired a 76, including a one-over par 37 on the back nine, to finish tied for third in the field of 54 golfers.

Sophomore Dylan Saxon shot an 86, which was goof for for 11th place, for the Wildcats, while sophomore Connor Mosher carded a 105. Sophomore Brady Darrow tacked on a non-scoring round of 106.

Notre Dame’s Dylan O’Toole of Waverly shot a 99.

Athens opens the NTL season Wednesday at The Club at Shepard Hills.
