THE VALLEY — Football Friday will feature all three Valley teams in action for the first time this season, with only Waverly at home.

Also at home on a busy Friday are the Athens boys soccer team, and the Waverly and Tioga volleyball teams.

FOOTBALL
Athens (3-1 overall, 2-0 NTL Large) at Troy (4-0, 2-0), 7 p.m. @ Alparon Park:
The Wildcats are coming off a 23-13 win at Wellsboro, while the Trojans rolled to a 44-12 win over Wyalusing.

Athens has won three in a row, albeit against three opponents with a combined record of 1-11, and have outscored those three foes 126-20 (an average of 42-7), while unbeaten Troy’s opponents have a record of 6-10,including a 3-1 mark by Montoursville. They outscored their opponents 148-42 (37 to 10.5)

The Trojans are only averaging 28.5 yards per game through the air, but are churning out 293.3 yards per game on the ground, led by junior Clayton Smith, who has 553 yards and eight TDs.

Athens is averaging 153 yards per game through the air, and 139.5 yards game on the ground.

Senior QB Mason Lister, who topped the 4,000-yard mark in career passing yardage last week and is on the verge of breaking what is thought to be school record for passing, has completed 62 percent of his passes (41 of 66) for 612 yards and TDs. He has been intercepted three times, with all three coming in Week 1.

Senior Lucas Horton leads the Wildcat receivers with 12 receptions for 189 yard and four TDs, and senior Caleb Nichols leads the team with 279 rushing yards and five TDs.

Cowanesque Valley (0-4) at Waverly (3-0), 7 p.m. @ Memorial Stadium: The Wolverines are coming off a 52-34 win over Newark Valley, while the Indians suffered a 57-14 home loss to South Williamsport.

Waverly has outscored its opponents 118-47 (an average of 39.3 to 15.7) this season, while CV has been outscored 192-53 (48 -13).

The Wolverines are averaging 417.6 yards per game of offense, with 216.3 coming on the ground and 211.3 through the air.

Junior Jay Pipher leads the Waverly ground game with 182 yards and three TDs on just 11 carries (16.5 yards per carry), and senior Gage Tedesco has 140 yards and four TDs on 22 carries.

Junior QB Joey Tomasso, who also topped the 4,000-yard mark in passing yards, has completed 62.7 percent (42 of 67) of his passes for 634 yards and six TDs, while being picked off three times.

Pipher also leads the Wolverines with 18 receptions for 343 yards and four TDs, including 10 catches for 225 yards and three TDs in last week’s win over Newark Valley.

Tioga (3-0) at Bainbridge-Guilford (0-2), 7 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 54-7 win at Harpursville-Afton last week, while the Bears dropped a 51-3 decision to Delhi.

Tioga, which has yet to play a home game, has outscored its opponents 136-33 (45.3 to 11) this season, while B-G has been outscored 85-17 (42.5 to 8.5).

The Tigers are averaging 359.4 yards per game this season — 241.7 per game on the ground, and 107.7 through the air.

Junior Drew Macumber leads Tioga’s rushing attack with 200 yards and five TDs, and junior Duncanson has 162 yards and five TDs on just 15 carries (10.8 yards per carry.

Junior QB Caden Bellis, who has 135 rushing yards and one YD, has completed 59 percent (23 of 39) of his passes for 323 yards and three TDs, while being picked off once.

Junior Evan Sickler, who has been a weapon on special teams, leads Tioga’s receivers with 10 catches for 114 yards and one TD. He also has a 34-yard rushing TD, and three interceptions on defense.

BOYS SOCCER
Corning (6-1) at Athens (6-3), 7 p.m.:
The Wildcats are coming off a 5-0 win over Northeast Bradford Wednesday afternoon, but will step up in class tonight when they host Corning, which had its six-game season-opening win streak snapped with a 4-0 loss at Ithaca Monday.

GIRLS SOCCER
Tioga (0-6) at Newfield, 4:30 p.m.:
The Lady Tigers dropped an 8-0 decision to Watkins Glen Monday, while the Lady Trojans dropped a 3-0 decision at O-M.

VOLLEYBALL
Candor (1-2) at Waverly (4-1), 5 p.m. JV start:
The Lady Wolverines are coming off a four-set win over Thomas A. Edison, while the Lady Indians were swept by unbeaten Trumansburg.

Newfield at Tioga (4-1), 5 p.m. JV start:
The Lady Tigers are coming off a five-set loss at S-VE Wednesday, while the Lady Trojans dropped a 3-1 decision to Newark Valley.
