WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: TIOGA GRAD AYRES LEADS ELMIRA COLLEGE TO WIN OVER PENN COLLEGE (2022-11-09)

WILLIAMSPORT — Tioga grad Olivia Ayres, a sophomore on the Elmira College women’s basketball team, pumped in 17 points to help the Lady Soaring Eagles to a season-opening, 57-45, win over Penn College and Athens grad Kayleigh Miller here Tuesday night.

Ayres knocked down 6 of her 11 shots from the field, including 5 of 9 from behind the 3-point arc. Her 17 points came in 31 minutes on the floor.

Ayres also grabbed six rebounds, including three offensive boards, and registered three steals.

Miller, a sophomore, was 1-for-3 from behind the 3-point line. She had three points, one assist, and one steal in 9 minutes.

Ayres and Miller are former AAU teammates.

Elmira College returns to action next Tuesday at Cazenovia College, while Penn College travels to Marywood University (Scranton) Wednesday.
