ROCHESTER — Tioga grad Kurstan Martin, a graduate student on the Utica University volleyball team, saw her college career come to an end with a loss to second-seeded Hartwick in the Empire-8 Championships.

Martin led the Lady Pioneers to a five-set win over second-seeded Nazareth in the quarterfinals. Martin had 12.5 service points, 12 kills, one block, three digs, and two setter assists.

In the semifinals, Utica was swept by Hartwick. Martin had two points, two kills, three digs, and one assist.

For the season, Martin played in 26 of Utica’s 29 matches, and saw action in 66 sets. She had 133 points (one ace), 127 kills, eight blocks, 54 digs, and seven assists.

She had a season-high 13 points on three occasions this season, and 13 kills in two matches, as well as a season-high seven digs on Oct. 27 against Cazenovia.

For her career, Martin played in 101 matches, and 292 sets. She had 548 points, including 36 service aces, 485 kills, 44 blocks, 37 assists, and 370 digs.

Utica wraps up the season at 17-12.
