MEN'S COLLEGE SWIMMING: WAVERLY GRAD ATANASOFF WINS FOUR EVENTS IN RIT'S WIN OVER GANNON; NAMED LIBERTY LEAGUE 'SWIMMER OF WEEK' (2022-11-10)

Mike Atanasoff, a junior on the RIT men’s swim team, won four events Saturday to lead the Tigers to a, 172-128, win over Gannon University. He was also named the Liberty League “Swimmer of the Week” for the week ending Nov. 6.
Atanasoff logged a pair of individual wins, and also swam on the 400-yard medley, and 400-yard freestyle relays.
Atanasoff won the 50-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 21.13 seconds — better than 1 second faster than the runner-up.
He also won the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 50.92 seconds.
Atanasoff swam a 46.94 butterfly leg in the 400-yard medley relay. The team clocked in at 3:27.95.
Atanasoff anchored RIT’s winning 400-yard freestyle relay team, which clocked in at 3:07.66. Atanasoff swam his leg in 46.15 seconds.
In five meets this season, Atanasoff has 19 first-place finishes — 10 individual, and nine on relays.
RIT, now 5-0, travels to Ithaca Saturday.
