Emmett Wood, a freshman on the Morrisville State football team, ran for a career-high in yardage and scored his first collegiate touchdown Saturday to help the Mustangs to a 38-12 win over Hartwick in Empire 8 football action at Drake Field.
Wood, running behind an offensive line anchored by Tioga grad
Cole Williams, rushed for 95 yards and one TD on 19 carries. He also had one reception for 3 yards.
Wood scored on a six-yard run with 3:21 remaining in the first half to give the Mustangs a 21-0 lead.
Wood has rushed for 296 yards and one TD on 60 carries (4.93 yards per carry), including a long run of 43 yards. He also has four receptions for 18 yards.
Williams has started every game on the offensive line. The Mustangs averaged 277.4 yards in total offense per game, including 141.2 yards per game on the ground.
Morrisville, now 7-3, will learn Monday if their season continues with an ECAC bowl game.
