AUBURN — Freshman Derek Johnson rolled a 600 series to lead Waverly to a sweep of Union Springs here Wednesday in IAC bowling action, while the previously-unbeaten Lady Wolverines were swept.

BOYS
Waverly 4, Union Springs / Port Byron 0

The Wolverines won the first game 872-764, then reeled off wins of 911-837, and 911-803 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,694 to 2,404.

Johnson led Waverly with a 601 series on games of 180, 222, and 199, while senior Zach Vanderpool rolled a 598, including games of 223 and 204, and junior Trenton Sindoni had a 538.

Junior Carter Hayes shot a 478, while senior Ashton Pritchard added a 474, and freshman Tristan Campbell tacked on a 381.

Brandon Young led US / PB with a 575 series, and Zach Ward added a 497.

Waverly improves to 21-3 on the season.

GIRLS
Union Spring / Port Byron 4, Waverly 0

US / PB won the first game 795-710, then picked up wins of 805-673, and 822-739 for a total-pinfall victory of 2,422 to 2,122.

Senior Shantilly Decker led Waverly with a 482, while junior Rachel Houseknecht had a 476, and senior Victoria Houseknecht had a 393.

Seventh-grader Karis Hayes shot a 384 for the Lady Wolverines, while sophomore Serenity Conklin added a 377, and 8th-grader Emily Houseknecht tacked on a 304.

Colleen Jump led US / PB with a 592 series, and Jenna Jump added a 540.

Waverly falls to 20-4 on the season.

The Wolverines return to action Thursday at Watkins Glen.
