IAC BOYS BOWLING: TRIO OF WOLVERINES ROLL 600 IN SWEEP OF US / PB (2023-01-12)

WAVERLY — Senior Zach Vanderpool, and freshmen Derek Johnson and Tristan Campbell each rolled 600 series to lead Waverly in a sweep of Union Springs / Port Byron here Thursday afternoon in IAC Large School boys bowling action at the Valley Bowling Center.

Waverly won the first game 1,018-902, then reeled off wins of 1,027-799, and 1,101-775 for a total-pinfall victory of 3,146 to 2,476.

Vanderpool led the Wolverines with a 678 series on games of 199, 201, and 278, while Johnson rolled a 649 on games of 190, 202, and 257, and Campbell fired a 637 on games of 199, 228, and 212.

Junior Carter Hayes rolled a 574 series, including a team-high 221 in the first game, while senior Ashton Pritchard shot a 567, including a 209 in the first game, and senior Mike Cole added a 521, including a 215 in the second game.

Matt Howell led US / PB with a 511, and Dylan Howell had a 509.

Waverly leads the Large School Division with a 37-3 record, and returns to action Friday at Lansing.
