NTL BOYS BASKETBALL: BLUE RIDGE OVERCOMES GOOD START BY SAYRE TO POST 75-41 WIN (2023-01-28)

NEW MILFORD, Pa. — Sayre led early, but Blue Ridge outscored the Redskins, 43-11, in the middle two quarters on its way to a 75-41 win here Saturday afternoon in non-league boys basketball action.

The Redskins dropped an 86-70 decision to Blue Ridge in the opening weekend of the season at the Bradford-Susquehanna Counties Challenge.

Sayre led 19-18 after the first eight minutes, but Blue Ridge used a 21-6 blitz in the second quarter to take a 39-25 lead at the half.

The Red Raiders outscored Sayre 22-5 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 61-30 heading into the final eight minutes.

Senior Hubbard Jackson rapped up an impressive week with 29 points, including four 3-pointers, and sophomore Nick Pellicano added four points.

Hubbard averaged 40 points in Sayre’s three games this week, including a school-record 55 Thursday night at Williamson.

Connor Cranage led Blue Ridge with 37 points, including four 3-pointers, while Dalton Rutter scored 12 points, and Dylan Bradley added 10 points.

Sayre, now 8-10, hosts NEB Tuesday night in a key NTL Small School game.
