Valley Sports ReportTHE VALLEY — There are seven events on Tuesday’s docket, including three boys soccer matches, and a pair of golf matches, but only two are in the Valley, and both are in Athens.
BOYS SOCCER
Tioga at Marathon, 4:30 p.m.: The Tigers, who were 7-6-2 in 2023, open the season looking to replace the program’s all-time leading scorer Tyler Roe against an Olympian program coming off a 14-2-1 season.
Wellsboro (3-0) at Athens (1-1), 5:30 p.m.: The Wildcats are coming off a 3-0 loss at Montoursville Saturday, while the Hornets blanked South Williamsport, 5-0.
Waverly at Elmira, 7 p.m.: The Wolverines, coming off a two-win season, open the season with a very young team against a Class AAA Elmira team coming off a 5-9-1 season.
GOLF
Athens at NTL Match #4 @ Corey Creek Golf Club, Mansfield: Athens enters the day at 18-0 and winners of 19 consecutive NTL golf matches. Sayre is 0-18.
Senior Dylan Saxon and sophomore Eli Hicks have led the Wildcats in their first three league matches, but senior Brady Darrow, and freshman Ty Owen, and Brooke Lyon have also contributed in the top four.
Waverly at Susquehanna Valley, 3:30 p.m.: After playing an independent schedule last year, the Wolverines play their first-ever STAC boys golf match this afternoon.
CROSS COUNTRYNEB, Towanda at Athens, 4 p.m.
Sayre, Canton at Wellsboro, 5 p.m.
