ATHENS LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL (MAJORS): TEAM WANCK OFF TO 2-0 START WITH PAIR OF DOMINATING WINS (2025-05-03)

ATHENS —  Team Wanck is off to a 2-0 start with a pair of dominating wins to start the 2025 Athens Little League Majors Division softball season.

Team Wanck 11, Team Bishop (Athens) 1
Team Wanck plated seven runs in the third inning to blow open a one-run game on its way to a season-opening 11-1 four-inning win over Team Bishop on April 21.

Sadie Wanck singled twice and scored one run, while Olivia Wilcox singled, scored one run, and had four RBI, Aaleah Teeple doubled, scored one run, and had three RBI, and Emma Peachy singled and drove in one run to account for Team Wanck's five hits.

Lindsay Ahern scored two runs and drove in one run in the win, while Shyla Benson and Terri Orshal each scored two runs, Milan Garrison scored one run and knocked in one run, Katalina Cantellops drove in one run, and Sophia Barrett crossed the plate once.

Wilcox earned the win for Team Wanck, allowing an unearned run on one hit, while striking out seven and walking five in four innings.

Kendall Butcher had Bishop's only hit in the contest, and Harper Liechty scored the team's only run.

Team Wanck 12, East Smithfield 2
On April 24, Team Wanck scored five runs in the top of the first inning, and cruised to a 12-2 winnower East Smithfield.

Wilcox, Wanck, and Ameilia Archibald combined on a 1-hitter for Team Wanck.

Wilcox struck out two and allowed one hit in two scoreless innings, while Wanck earned the win, allowing one unearned run with five strikeouts in two no-hit innings.

Archibald pitched the final two innings, allowing one unearned run in two hitless innings of relief. She walked four and struck out one.

Ahern singled and drove in two runs, while Wanck singled twice, scored two runs, and knocked in one run, Barrett singled twice and scored one run, and Nora Morales singled twice and scored one run to account for eight of Team Wanck's 11 hits.

Wilcox singled, scored three runs, and drove in one run in the win, while Teeple singled, scored one run, and knocked in two runs, Milah Garrison singled and scored one run, Orshal scored two runs and drove in one run, Archibald crossed the plate once, and Cantellops had one RBI.

Team Wanck returns to action Thursday at Towanda-Taylor.
