THE WEEK AHEAD: POSTSEASON FOCUS SHIFTS NORTH OF THE BORDER (May 24, 2026)

THE VALLEY — With the 2025-26 sports season in the books in Pa., the focus this week is on the Section IV postseason with Waverly and Tioga teams in postseason action.

There are seven events on the docket this week, with Waverly teams involved in five of them. There is a chance for as many as three more events to be added this week in softball and baseball playoff action.

The following are all of the postseason events this week:

MONDAY (0)
Happy Memorial Day! 

TUESDAY (2)
•  Waverly opens its Section IV, Class A three-game championship series against Maine-Endwell at home.

•  Tioga travels to Moravia for the quarterfinals of the Section IV, Class C softball playoffs.

WEDNESDAY (2)
•  Waverly competes at the Section IV, Class B Track & Field Championships at Ithaca High School.

•  Waverly softball opens play in the Section IV, Class A playoffs, hosting Oneonta in the semifinals.

THURSDAY (3)
•  Tioga competes at the Section IV, Class C Track & Field Championships at Newark Valley.

•  Waverly competes at the Section IV Girls Golf Championships at Soaring Eagles Golf Course.

•  Game Two of the Section IV, Class A baseball playoffs has Waverly at Maine-Endwell.

FRIDAY (1)
•  If necessary, Waverly will host Maine-Endwell in the decisive Game Three of the Section IV, Class A baseball championship series.

SATURDAY
No Games Scheduled.
