DISTRICT 6 LITTLE LEAGUE (MAJORS): BIG FLATS RIDES BIG INNING TO 12-6 WIN OVER WAVERLY IN FIRST GAME OF POOL PLAY (2019-06-22)

BIG FLATS — Big Flats, playing as the home team, scored scored seven runs in the top of the fifth inning to break open a close game en route to a 12-6 win over Waverly here Saturday in the first game of pool play action of the District 6 Little League Majors Division baseball playoffs.
Carter Davies ripped a one-out RBI double in the bottom of the second inning to put Waverly on the board and tie the game at 1-1. With two outs, Jerry Carnrike stroked an RBI single to place Davies o give Waverly a 2-1 lead.
Big Flats answered with two runs in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead, and added a run in the fourth inning to make it 4-2.
Aiden Doherty delivered an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth inning to trim the deficit to 4-3, but Big Flats took advantage of three Waverly errors to score seven times in the top of the fifth to take an 11-3 lead.
Kohen Hugo was 3-for-3 with one run scored to pace Waverly at the plate, while Kadyn Whitney singled, scored two runs, and drove in one run, and Davies doubled, scored one run, and knocked one run
Ben Shaw singled and scored one run for Waverly, while Doherty and Carnrike each singled and drove in one run, Bryce Laforest had one RBI, and Andrew Larrabee scored one run.
Waverly returns to action Monday at Elmira Heights.
