DISTRICT 15 LITTLE LEAGUE (MINORS): ATHENS PULLS AWAY FOR 11-1 WIN OVER SUSQUEHANNA COUNTY (2019-06-30)

ATHENS — Athens scored 10 runs in the final three innings of an 11-1 five-inning win over Susquehanna County here Sunday afternoon in the opening round of bracket play in the District 15 Little League Minors Division baseball playoffs.

Connor Davidson stroked three singles, scored three runs, and drive in one run, and Duncan Thetga singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in two runs to pace Athens’ seven-hit attack, while Kamdyn Wheeler singled, scored two runs, and drove in two runs, and Alex McQuay singled and knocked in two runs.

Sam Cheresnowsky, Graham Wanck, Brycen Wood, and Zach Fisher scored one run in the win, and Cartyr Cockcroft drove in one run.

Cockcroft earned the win, allowing one hit, while striking out three and walking four in 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Thetga started on the mound, allowing one run, while striking out six and walking none in 2 1/3 innings.

Waverly returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Susquehanna Area.
