ON TAP TODAY: TIOGA WRESTLERS AT FULTON IN BATTLE OF STATE-RANKED TEAMS (2019-01-05)

THE VALLEY - On a Saturday with no action in the Valley, the marquee match-up has the Tioga wrestlers traveling to Fulton to square off with the Division 1 power, while Waverly and Athens are in action at Day 2 in their respective tournaments, and Sayre will compete at the O-M Duals.

The Waverly and Tioga boys hoop teams are both on the road.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Waverly (5-3 overall, 3-1 IAC Large) at Thomas A. Edison (0-9, 0-5), 3 p.m. JV start:
The Wolverines are coming off a 67-34 loss to S-VE Friday, while the Spartans dropped a 57-40 decision to O-M.

Tioga (4-6) at NEB, 6 p.m.: The Tigers are coming off a 71-61 win at Notre Dame Friday night, while the Panthers have been off since a 47-41 win over Candor Dec. 29.

WRESTLING
Tioga (2-0) at Fulton (17-2), 6 p.m.:
The Tigers topped BGAH 52-21 in its last dual on Dec. 21, while Fulton dropped a 46-30 decision to Hilton the same night.

Tioga is ranked second in Division 2 in New York state, while Fulton is 11th in Division 1.

The match could feature the top-rated wrestlers in Section III and Section IV squaring off. At 132 pounds, Tiogajunior Brady Worthing will likely square off against Fulton's Cole French (12-5), while Tioga senior John Worthing could face Sam May (11-4) at 138 pounds, and Tioga senior Austin Lamb could face Cuinn Burlingame (17-2) at 145 pounds.

Waverly at Oneonta Rotary Tournament, 9 a.m.: It's Day 2 of the Oneonta Rotary Tournament.

Athens at NFWOA Tournament, 9 a.m. @ Niagara CC:
Athens advanced five wrestlers to the quarterfinals, and has two alive in wrestlebacks.

Junior Alex West and senior David Galasso each went 2-0, while freshman Gavin Bradley, sophomore Zach Stafursky, and junior Keegan Braund were each 1-0 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Freshman Kaden Setzer went 1-1 Friday, and junior Dylan Comstock was 0-1. Both are alive in the consolation bracket.
