IAC JV BOYS BASKETBALL: TIOGA FALLS TO SOUTHERN CAYUGA, 58-39 (2019-01-09)

TIOGA CENTER - Southern Cayuga pulled away over the middle two quarters en route to a 58-39 win over Tioga here Tuesday evening in IAC Small Schoo junior varsity basketball action.
Gavin Godfrey knocked down a 3-pointer and scored five points for Tioga in the first quarter, but the junior Chiefs led 16-10 after the first eight minutes.
Seth Franks canned a 3-pointer in the second quarter, but Isaac Peterson's bucket were the only other points for the junior Tigers as Southern Cayuga used a 12-5 spurt to stretch its lead to 28-15 at the half.
Derrick Gage had an old-fashioned three-point play in the third quarter, but Southern Cayuga put the game away with an 18-9 run to take a 46-24 lead into the final eight minutes.
Franks, Bryce Bailey, and Casey Stoughton each knocked down 3-pointers in the final stanza, but Tioga was only able chop three points off the deficit.
Stoughton led Tioga with nine points, while Godfrey and Peterson scored seven points apiece, and Franks chipped in with six points.
Vanacore led Southern Cayuga with 26 points, including 16 over the middle two quarters, and Thurston added 16.
Tioga returns to action Friday at Union Springs.
