NTL GIRLS BASKETBALL: ATHENS ROLLS OVER WILLIAMSON, 60-19 - QUALIFIES FOR DISTRICTS (2019-02-05)

TIOGA JUNCTION, Pa. - Athens was on top of its game on both ends of the floor in a 60-19 rout of Williamson here Tuesday night in NTL girls basketball action.

With the win, Athens improves to 11-7 on the season and qualifies for the upcoming District 4, Class AAAA playoffs.

Athens sophomore Kayleigh Miller knocked down a 3-pointer early, and scored seven points in the first quarter, and sophomore Rachel Stevens added four points in a 20-0 first-quarter blitz.

Freshman Caydence Macik scored six points in the second quarter, and Miller canned another 3-pointer and scored five points as Athens used a 17-5 run to stretch its lead to 37-5 at the half.

The Lady Wildcats defense continued to thwart Williamson in the second half, allowing just 14 points, while Macik and sophomore Megan Collins scored six points apiece, and senior Sophie Adams added five points for Athens, which stretched its lead in both the third and fourth quarters.

Macik led Athens with 14 points, 10 rebounds, four blocked shots, and three steals, while Miller had 12 points and three steals, Adams had nine points, six boards and three steals, and Stevens had seven points and six rebounds.

Collins had six points in the win, while junior Kassidy Peterson had four points, three rebounds, and three assists, junior Haley Barry had four points, junior Avery Priester doled out eight assists, and Joselyn Murray and Emily Pennison grabbed fur boards apiece.

Leteisha Peterson led Williamson with 11 points and Ella Durst added seven points.

Athens hosts Wyalusing Wednesday night.
