WATKINS GLEN — Senior Pierce Hendershot faced the minimum 21 batters in a one-hitter, and junior Mason Booser powered the offense in Tioga’s 11-0 win over Odessa-Montour / Watkins Glen here Friday afternoon in IAC non-divisional baseball action.
Hendershot fanned seven and walked none in the complete-game win.
O-M / WG’s only hitter to reach base was Caleb Thomas, who clubbed a two-out double in the fourth inning, but was gunned down at third base on a strong relay throw from centerfielder Brady Worthing to shortstop John Worthing to Thomas Cook at third base to end the inning.
The Tigers took command early with four runs in the top of the first inning.
Hendershot and Booser opened the game with back-to-back singles, and John Worthing put Tioga on the board with an RBI double. After a wild pitch plated Booser, Cook stroked a one-out RBI single to make it 3-0. Senior Derrick Barto capped the scoring with a run-scoring groundout.
