Valley Sports ReportTIOGA CENTER "" Odessa-Montour scored three goals in a three minutes midway through the second half to blow open a close game en route to a 4-0 win over Tioga here Monday afternoon in IAC South Small School Division girls soccer action.
Freshman Hannah Nolan got O-M off to a quick start, scoring about 95 seconds into the game for a 1-0 lead, but the Lady Tigers re-grouped and kept the Lady Indians off the board for 52 minutes.
"It was our first home game, and a lot of the girls were a little nervous, which showed in the first two minutes," said Tioga coach Jim Walsh. " We simply got caught flat-footed, not moving or communicating.
"After that, the girls caught fire and battled the rest of the half, and for the first 10-plus minutes of the second half," noted Walsh.
"Unfortunately, disaster struck early in the second half when our starting left forward Rachel Feeko went down with a knee injury," said Walsh.
Feeko's injury left Tioga with just 11 players, and the Lady Indians took advantage with a goal by Autumn Garrison, and two more by Nolan in a three-minute span to take a 4-0 lead with 23:05 left in the game.
O-M had a 26-13 advantage in shots-on-goal, and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
Sophomore Gabrielle Foley recorded 22 saves in net for Tioga, and O-M standout had 13 for O-M.
Walsh said both keepers were impressive in between the pipes.
"Rookie goalie Gabrielle Foley played her best game of the season, stopping 22 shots, including some rapid-fire rebound shots," said Walsh.
Offensively, we could not find the net against their returning first-team all-star Grace Vondracek, who is equal to two defenders back there," noted Walsh.
Tioga, now 1-2, hosts SVEC Wednesday.
